The TGS® partial knee replacement system is a revolutionary solution designed to balance a patient’s soft tissue during unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. The TGS® instrument set allows the surgeon to prepare the femoral condyle using the patient’s own unique, natural knee motion to balance soft tissue. This results in a kinematically-correct, patient-specific resurfacing of only the areas affected by arthritis.

The TGS® procedure begins with the tibial plateau resection. This prepared surface supports instruments that re-establish natural knee motion and deploy a cutting element that prepares the femoral condyle as the surgeon extends the knee; the condyle is shaped according to the patient’s unique knee motion. The whole resurfacing portion of the procedure can be done in a matter of minutes. The intuitive, stepwise approach of the TGS® surgical procedure results in an instrument set that is easily configured in two instrument trays. The instrument set includes a Drive Motor powered by a Controller and foot switch.

The TGS® UKA femoral and tibial implants are intended for cemented use. The femoral implant set is a symmetrical design (i.e. universal) available in five sizes. The femoral implants are manufactured from CoCrMo alloy castings. The tibial implant set is a modular design available in four sizes in right and left configurations, each in three thicknesses (8, 9 and 10 mm). The tibial baseplates are manufactured from Ti(6A-4V) alloy and the bearing inserts are manufactured from GUR 1020 Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. All implants are EtO sterilized.

The TGS® partial knee system has been cleared by the FDA and is eligible for reimbursement by the insurance industry and Medicare utilizing CPT code 27446 and DRG code 209.
